This will, of course, entirely depend on the host:

• If you've got a super-engaged social media following, that can offset a smaller list in many ways.
• If your open rate for email is above average (say 25% or higher), then a smaller list shouldn't be a problem.
• If you have other ways of promoting besides email (podcast YouTube channel, large Facebook group, etc.) then you may still qualify.

The three-week window for promotions is so that participants can at least get out three emails without interfering with their other offers.

This also means that you can stack your email toward the front, middle, or end, as needed. You could email 3 times in one week, if that is all your schedule allows. You do NOT need to spread them out over the entire period.

This will vary widely from Giveaway to Giveaway, and many factors will affect your results.

Things to consider:

• How many participants are there? Often more participants means more opt-ins for all, with the exception that when there are too many (over 30) you reach a point of diminishing returns.
• How big is the minimum list requirement? A larger minimum usually (though not always) means you'll get more opt-ins, as the general audience reach is greater. Of course, open rates and list engagement will have a major impact, as well.
• How hot is your lead magnet? A well-matched lead magnet with an enticing title will perform much better than a mismatched, poorly titled offering. Be sure that your gift title speaks to the audience of the Giveaway as best you can.
• How are you being featured? Many Giveaways offer featured spots for an extra fee. These spots tend to get more opt-ins simply by being positioned better on the all-access page and perhaps even in emails going out to the list. Give it a try, but keep in mind - there is no substitute for an awesome lead magnet title.

No. This would go against the CAN-SPAM Act and is illegal. However, you DO get to collect all of the emails of those who opt-in for YOUR specific gift.

Some Giveaways offer the ability to have your Facebook pixel added to the landing pages, thereby providing you with better marketing information if you run Facebook ads. You can improve your look-alike audience utilizing this service, usually offered as an extra fee.

Absolutely! If you still have a very small list and little to no social media engagement, then perhaps being a guest contributor is not a fit for you right now.

If you were to participate and then end up only sending fewer than 20 opt-ins to the Giveaway, this would look bad on you. Hosts tend to not welcome people back for a second time if they under-deliver.

Instead, running your own Giveaway may be a better solution. When you are the one running it, you get to call the shots. And best of all - your list size doesn't matter as much as you bringing together people whose list sizes DO matter.
